Hello!
I was asked to write about a new site called Poll The People (http://www.pollthepeople.com/). Here is some of the text of an e-mail I received:
We have recently helped launched a website to invite the public to vote
for their Top 5 albums (films and books) in an evolving poll to find
the Greatest Albums etc of all time – www.pollthepeople.com (http://www.pollthepeople.com/)
. The site was borne out of frustration at the number of TV and press
polls based on very little research or the opinions of a few
journalists. So now we want to give the people a chance to have their
say and vote for their favourite albums (films and books) to create a
truly definitive global poll. The site was founded by Glenn Cooper
previously the Head of Digital @ Island Records UK for 6 years who left
his role to focus on this venture with his wife Kirsty Cooper who has
over 10 years music marketing and PR experience.
Please could you put a news story up on your Site and Forum to let No
Doubt fans know about the site so they can vote and have their say? We
have had over 3,700 people sign up and vote in the first month from
over 100 different countries and we are already working on a TV show
format and a “Poll The People top rated” retail sticker initiative. In
addition we have had features in The Times and The Guardian as well as
trade press so we have had a great start. The early visitors to the
site have been very pop biased and it’s important to us that we reach
out to fans of all great artists / bands so the poll becomes truly
definitive
.
Obviously, I would suggest that you go and add your vote for No Doubt, but you can vote for whomever you wish. ;)
Also, you may have noticed that any comments you recently left aren't showing up. That's because apparently the spammers have tweaked their lovely bots to work with the software running this site, so I'm getting a bunch of spam comments each day to wade through. I have it set up so that all comments have to be approved by me before they appear on the site, but it's often such a pain to try and pick the one real comment out of the 20 spam comments so I haven't taken the time to sort them. Sorry…… This will be fixed shortly. :D

Hi all. I just got the new issue of Entertainment Weekly in the mail
today, and there's a little blurb about Universal/Interscope that's
kinda interesting:
Music by Shirley Halperin
Release the Sounds
Universal's
record labels (which include Interscope-Geffen-A M Records) might
be looking to stack the fourth-quarter decks. Sources say the music
industry's market-share leader is preparing a fall slate that is likely
to include new albums from marquee names like U2, Black Eyed Peas, No Doubt, Pussycat Dolls, and Keane…………
A
label rep couldn't confirm any street dates, but if most-or all-of the
albums get preholiday releases, Universal will likely end the year with
full domination of both the charts and the ailing U.S. music market.

Hi all!
A new article on MTV.com (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1584561/20080401/stefani_gwen.jhtml?rsspartner=rssYahooNewscrawler) states that the next No Doubt album and tour will happen in 2009. :
Manager Jim Guerinot said the yet-untitled album, which is being
produced by Mark Spike Stent (Björk, U2, Britney Spears), is penciled
in for the first half of 2009. Between the babies and recording, No
Doubt are not expected to do any touring in 2008, but, Guerinot
promised, they plan to hit the road hard in 2009 for their first
full-fledged band tour in nearly five years.
Of course, I was hoping for a little sooner, but the first half of next year isn't so far away relatively speaking!
According to UK Vogue (http://www.vogue.co.uk/vogue_daily/story/story.asp?stid=51837), there will be a Harajuku Lovers line of fragrances released this fall, with a different scent for each girl! I didn't think this project would actually come to life, Stefani confesses.
The idea that Coty would let me do five different fragrances for Harajuku
Lovers was a fantasy. But it really had to be five, because that's what the
world is. Each girl has her own personality and sense of style. We're all saying
something different with unique personalities.
To fit with the
branding, each scent is tailored to each girl's personality and traits. And
Stefani – who is expecting her second child with husband Gavin Rossdale later
this year – doesn't want her beauty empire to stop there.

Hey all! Gwen and Tom have both posted on the official ND message board recently, so I just wanted to copy down what they wrote:
Hi there everyone! Here
in So Cal the sun has started to hang out, which is nice because it
shines into the little studio space where we've been working on some
new music. This year is going to be so great, making music together
again. I don't want to disclose too much too soon, but we have a heap
of new ideas being explored. Tony, Adrian, and Gwen say hi, as well…
Talk soon,
Tom
Been thinking so much about you all lately as I am back in the studio again
with the boys trying to write some new music.
What an amazing few years it has been. So inspired going through the dance
record phase of my life. Thank you so much for all your support! The tour
was incredible. We ended up doing over 100 shows around the world and it
was so rewarding and again inspiring. Thank you to everyone who came out
to see it…memories for life! Great to be home with with all my boys.
Feels crazy to be pregnant all over again!!!!! We have been spending every
day up in the little studio in our house trying to write music. My favorite
part so far is just seeing the guys everyday and hanging out. We have
so much fun together. The songwriting part is a bit slow on my part…I
think it has something to do with the baby in my belly but I'm sure it is
all of the process and I really believe this could be the most inspired No
Doubt record so far.
Cant wait to see what happens.
All my love
g
Good news! I can't wait!
