No Doubt Needs Your Help, Today show questions

From an official e-mail:
“Hello Everyone.

The tour launches in a few weeks and we need your help. We’re creating the video elements for the upcoming tour and want to include YOU!

We need you, your friends, family, loved ones, pets and anyone else you’d like to include to dress up like Gwen and show us your best interpretation of “Just A Girl.” So get dolled up like Gwen, get your video cameras out and dance, sing, jump, crunk or do whatever it is you do and send it over to us. We’re hoping to get loads of great footage to air during our performance of “Just A Girl” on the 2009 Summer Tour.

We don’t have much time so get to filming. Deadline for entries is May 1st.

Get out the red lipstick, the blond wigs and whatever else you can find and show us your best impression of “Just A Girl.” We’ll post your video submissions here on the site for everyone to check out. We can’t wait to see what you come up with and hope to show the world on tour! Go to www.nodoubt.com/justagirl to submit your videos.

Thanks!”

Also, as you probably know, No Doubt will be on the Today show May 1st. You can go to their web site and submit questions that you’d like them to ask the band.

new video and note on Interscope’s site and firefox theme

There’s a new video interview and a note from Gwen on Interscope’s site (here).
“Hiya,
It’s been crazy busy at rehearsals. So much to get it all going. this tour is gonna be amazing. It’s hilarious being all back together. Lots of creative energy and inspiration.

As some of you may know, we decided on the fly to appear on the show Gossip Girl as the 80’s band Snowed Out. We’re doing a cover of “Stand and Deliver” by Adam and the Ants for that show and have been messing around with it here at rehearsals. We hadn’t planned on playing the song live but we’ve been having so much fun we decided to play it on stage for the first time at Bamboozle on May 3rd. If you guys like it, maybe we’ll add it into our set.

I heard there’s some confusion about the song and it being our new single. It’s not our new single, just a fun thing we did for the show. We included it in our catalogue download because… Well, I don’t know. I guess because we wanted to give you something extra. As you know, this whole tour is to get us inspired to write our new record.

Well, gotta run. We’re shooting tour video stuff with Sophie Muller today and they’re ready to start. See you soon!

Gx”

Also, Mozilla has just released an official theme-like extension for Firefox called “Personas”.  There’s a No Doubt theme.

fan passes for the Today show, Spin mag cover

Here is an e-mail I received from someone at NBC today:
“I’m the concert coordinator at the Today Show. We’re thrilled to host No Doubt on May 1st, and would love to offer visitors to your site special “Fan Passes”. I’m going to begin distributing them this week and would love to get No Doubt’s most dedicated fans in on this!

We like to pack the very front area of the plaza with true fans – If you’d like to help, I’d love if you could post something along the lines of the following on your site:

To receive concert updates and special No Doubt “Fan Passes” for their performance on the Today Show on Friday, May 1st, email todayshowconcerts@nbcuni.com with “Fan Pass” as the subject.”

So, if you’re planning on attending, make sure you e-mail them and get a “fan pass” so you can get right up there and represent!
I wish I could go!

Also, NxD is on the cover of the May issue of Spin magazine! I unfortunately don’t have it yet as it’s not in the stores just yet, but you can see scans at my pal Jenny’s site.

new old layout

Well, I finally got around to putting my own layout back up. It only took me………forever! I thought about making a new one, but this is the last one that was up before the site broke and all that, and it seemed somehow fitting to put it back up.  Plus, it was one of my favorites.  :)

Four Questions with No Doubt

From a short interview on Spin.com :

No Doubt kick off their first tour in more than five years on May 5, at New Jersey's Bamboozle Festival (see all tour dates).
To get the inside details on what fans can expect from the longtime
Orange County hitmakers, we sat down with them recently in Los Angeles:

Don’t Call it a Reunion
Drummer Adrian Young wants to clarify
something. I feel like everywhere I look people are saying, Oh
Blink-182 is getting back together and Jane’s Addiction is getting
together and No Doubt is getting back together. As far as I know, those
other guys broke up. We never did. It’s frustrating to keep hearing
that.

And the Survey Says?
Because they haven't played live in five years, the band were curious
to know what songs their audience wanted to hear. A survey on their
website provided the answer. I was totally surprised the fans said
their favorite song was 'Sunday Morning' [from 1995's Tragic Kingdom,]
says bassist Tony Kanal. I thought that would be up there, but I
wasn't expecting it to be number one. What was he expecting? 'Don't
Speak' or something from Rock Steady.

Ain't No Hollaback
Don't plan to hear Gwen Stefani's solo hits on this tour. A No Doubt
concert isn't the time or place for those songs, says Stefani. No
one asked for No Doubt songs on my [solo] tour and no one will ask for
my songs on a No Doubt tour. Love. Angel. Music. Baby.
fans have reason for hope, though. The singer says she might be
singing 'Hollaback Girl' somewhere else someday. She wouldn't be
specific, but we're hoping one spot is the karaoke bar a block from our
office.

Buy One, Get Lots Free!
Fans who purchase a top-tier ticket online for one of the No Doubt's upcoming shows can download the band's entire digital catalogue
— free. Sales ploy? Sure. But as Kanal explains, there was also
another motivation: We're going to have a lot of Gwen's fans at the
shows, as well as people who have never seen No Doubt before. We wanted
to make sure they know our music.

ND ad in EW, Gossip Girl

Hi all,

I just got the March 6 issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine in the mail today, and there's a full page ad for ND's tour in it. I've scanned it, and you can see it in the gallery here.

The band is going to perform on the TV show Gossip Girl. From the official site: Mark your calendars to see No Doubt perform Stand And Deliver
(originally by Adam And The Ants) for the first time ever on Gossip
Girl, May 11, 8/7c on The CW.
