Tom recently posted a trailer for the film “Midway” on his blog. I was happy to see this, because it’s a subject that I have strong opinions and feelings about.
Eric Stefani also posted an interesting entry to his blog regarding the design of the self-titled album cover:
“The “Pitcairn Motel ” in Anaheim
It was twenty years ago today . . .
Hello! I’m a little late on this, so you probably already know everything, but I’m going to post it anyway! :p lol
No Doubt is clearing out the band warehouse, and has put up some misc. gear, tour props, etc. for auction on eBay!! From the official:
“To make room for new stuff, No Doubt’s touring crew recently went through the band’s warehouse and cleared out a bunch of gear, equipment and props the band no longer need. These items are being listed on eBay here by seller dvamp2u (the only legitimate seller of this gear). A number of items such as amplifiers, keyboards, rack/outboard gear, guitar effects, pedal boards, staging, props, back drops and road cases will be listed over the next few weeks. Check the eBay page regularly for new listings. Unless specified, we cannot identify which (if any) tour these items are from, nor can we accommodate any requests to get items autographed or authenticated (please do not ask). More information can be found in the descriptions of each item.
Thanks to EIT for posting: No Doubt has a new photo shoot and article in the UK’s Q Magazine!!!!!! The photos are studio shots, and are awesome! You can see the scans, and the article transcription at EIT’s site here.
Hello! I happened upon the July 7th issue of Rolling Stone magazine in the supermarket this afternoon! I scanned the band photo, and added to the gallery here. I was hoping that the quality of the photo in the magazine would be better than the image I got from Rolling Stone’s web site, but it isn’t really. :( Oh well, awesome new photo and interview!!
Hello! No Doubt is featured in the July 7th issue of Rolling Stone magazine! I didn’t see it on newsstands yet today, but I was able to grab a copy of it on RS’s online subscription site (yes, I re-subscribed to Rolling Stone just so I could get this image). Please click on the thumbnail to the left for a larger image. I’ll upload a scan of the article as soon as I can get my hands on the actual magazine.
Congrats to No Doubt for winning Kroq’s best SoCal band!!!!! Here’s Tom’s tweet, which links to gwennodoubtrock’s forum post:
“nodoubt No Doubt
Also, Stylist magazine posted a great new interview with Gwen on their site. Must read!
The newest member of the No Doubt family was born on Friday!!! From the official:
“Nina and Adrian welcomed their second child into the world on Friday, June 10. Her name is Magnolia Renée Young (Renée after Nina’s mom) and she is absolutely perfect. Mommy is exhausted but doing well, son Mason hasn’t left her side and is already a great big brother. The family is sparkling with excitement and cannot wait to cuddle Magnolia with love.”
Welcome to the world, baby girl! xxxoooxxxooo
No Doubt has posted some photos from the tea party to the official here. I’ve added them to the gallery, along with ones that the band tweeted, plus a few others I’ve found. From the official:
“On June 7, Gwen Stefani hosted a private Harajuku-themed tea party at Royal/T to benefit Save the Children’s Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund. Guests were treated to a surprise performance by No Doubt.
200 lucky fans enjoyed a personal meet and greet with Gwen at Royal/T, Los Angeles’ first-ever Japanese-style “cosplay” maid café and pop art space. Other special guests included her No Doubt bandmates Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal and Adrian Young, and husband Gavin Rossdale. Gwen’s former muses Love, Angel, Music and Baby were also on hand alongside Royal/T’s “maid” servers. The event included a raffle featuring collectible vintage L.A.M.B. memorabilia from Gwen’s own closet, Harajuku Lovers fragrance sets and other merchandise including UK-based Momiji message dolls.
Stefani said, “Meeting the fans who donated their money for Save the Children’s relief effort in Japan was so inspiring. It was an incredible day filled with lots of emotion. I can’t believe I had the opportunity to host an event that could actually help people. I never thought that in my life I could make a difference but through the power of music and fashion we were all brought together to help the kids in Japan. It feels amazing to give a little back to a culture that has given me so much.”
“Gwen’s Save the Children event was a beautiful evening. Not only could we do our small part in the effort to raise funds for those affected by the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, we got to play an extremely fun and intimate surprise live set for the very generous fans that donated a lot of money for a great cause,” said No Doubt’s Tony Kanal.
Following the devastation caused by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Gwen personally donated $1 million to Save the Children. To raise additional funds she hosted the Harajuku-themed tea party at Royal/T for 200 loyal fans and helped to raise nearly $120,000 more for the charity and their relief effort. Generous vendors who donated services for the event included UK-based Momiji, Eric Buterbaugh Flower Design, Lauren Hillary Photography, Rony’s Photo Booth, Valet of the Dolls, and Classic Party Rentals. All funds will go to Save the Children’s Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund. A high tea was provided by Royal/T. I received my copy of Entertainment Weekly in the mail today. Here is a scan of the two page article:
I’ve also added it to the gallery here. No new photos, but it’s still an awesome article! They allowed the journalist to listen to, and describe two of the new songs, “One More Summer” and “Settle Down”!
I can’t wait for more and more of these articles to pop up now that we’re getting closer to the album release! I really want to see the new photos that Tom tweeted about, too!
On a side note, WTF is with all of the “Gwen’s solo career is over” articles that erupted on every news web site after quotes from this article were released? Have these people been living under a rock LOL? :)
A couple days ago, Tom posted this on twitter:
“nodoubt: We talked to some journalists and took some photos in the studio today. Starting to make this all feel real. More work to do, still! -Tom”
And then, this article appears on Entertainment Weekly’s web site today:
“Gwen Stefani and No Doubt on their next step – EXCLUSIVE
by Kyle Anderson
It has been nearly 10 years since No Doubt dropped their last studio album, Rock Steady; five years since singer Gwen Stefani dropped her last solo album The Sweet Escape; and two years since the group reunited for a big summer tour.
But Job-like No Doubt fans are about to be rewarded: Stefani, guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal and drummer Adrian Young sat down with Entertainment Weekly in Santa Monica this past weekend to chat about where they’ve been—and where they’re going.
And while we’re keeping the big news a secret for now (you can read the whole interview in this week’s coming issue, which is on newsstands this Friday), Stefani did tell us that the days of her being a solo artist are probably over.
“That was a moment in time,” Stefani said firmly when asked about the future of her solo career. “It went on a little longer than we all thought it would, because it was inspired and you have to go with wherever you’re at in that time in your life … [But] everything works out how it should.”
For the rest of the No Doubt’s revelations—including how life has changed since they now have nine(!) kids onboard between them, and what they think of the current state of the music industry—check out this week’s issue.”
Awesome! I hope this is a full cover story with a photo shoot! Eeep! It will hit the newsstands this coming Friday! I have a subscription which is due to run out any time now. I hope not before I get this issue in the mail!
