more details on Gwen’s upcoming solo music from Billboard

Monday, September 29th, 2014

Hello! Billboard.com shared some more details about Gwen’s upcoming solo music today:

“It’s been eight years since Gwen Stefani’s last solo album, 2006’s The Sweet Escape, but the wait may soon be over for new music from the newly minted Voice coach. In a panel at New York’s Advertising Week on Monday (Sept. 29), Stefani’s manager Irving Azoff revealed that the 44-year-old singer is currently in Miami, recording new tracks with frequent collaborator (and Voice co-star) Pharrell Williams. Next week, Azoff added, Stefani will determine which track will be the lead single, which she plans to perform on The Voice later in the season.

The fresh details come on the heels of an August interview in which Interscope chairman John Janick told Billboardthat Stefani was hustling to finish a new album for release by December, “on the back of her role on The Voice. Benny Blanco will executive produce, and it will come out in partnership with his label [Mad Love Records] as part of our overall deal with him,” Janick said, noting that British group Rixton’s forthcoming full-length will also be issued via Blanco’s Mad Love.

Sources say Stefani has been simultaneously working on new material for a new No Doubt record, the follow-up to 2012’s Push and Shove. The band just played New York’s Global Citizen Festival over the weekend, re-teaming with Sting for a reprise of the “Message in a Bottle” cover they first performed together during the 2002 Super Bowl.

Stefani has also been busy in another role: motherhood, following the birth of her third son with husband Gavin Rossdale, Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale, in March.”

Rock In Rio tickets, Global Citizen

Monday, September 29th, 2014

Hello! Tickets are already available for the Rock In Rio USA music festival at Rockinrio.com. They are calling it a pre-sale. Not sure if lower priced tickets will be available later on? The ones they have for sale now seem pretty expensive to me, but then again it is a weekend long festival with many bands playing.

Thanks so much to my good friend Laurie for sharing these photos she took at the Global Citizen Festival! :

I’ve added my captures of the Global Citizen TV broadcast to YouTube in a playlist:

Global Citizen Festival – great review article

Sunday, September 28th, 2014

Hello! Check out this great review of last night’s show from FDRMX.com:

gwen-stefani-fdrmx-10

““I never doubted it!” screamed one paparazzi as No Doubt took the stage, summing up the thoughts of an ecstatic crowd around 60,000 strong. Last night at the 3rd Annual Global Citizen Festival in Central Park, No Doubt was frozen in time, slaying all the hits like it was 2002 again.

There is a certain kind of apprehension that comes along with seeing one of your favorite childhood bands perform in their later years, but No Doubt put all my fears to rest last night. 44-year-old Gwen Stefani took my girl crush to new heights as she ruled the stage with her gorgeous figure, sleek blonde hair, and black dip-dyed bangs. Can we note here that she has 3 kids? All boys, no less? Superhero.

No Doubt’s setlist at the Global Citizen Festival included “Hella Good,” “Sunday Morning,” “Underneath it All” “I’m Just a Girl,” “Simple Kind of Life,” “It’s My Life,” “Push & Shove,” “Hey Baby,” “Don’t Speak,” and “Spiderwebs.” The Anaheim rockers looked smoking hot as they blasted through classics, and Stefani’s voice sounded so rich that it’s a struggle not to use the word “perfect.” For their last song, No Doubt teamed up with Sting for a show-stopping performance of “Message in a Bottle.” At that point, the excellence was too much to handle and my heart just melted like fondue. They made it seem easier than breathing.

Some moments just cannot go unmentioned, like their performance of “Underneath it All.” The brass in that song was so sharp and sexy that I was tearing through pages in my notebook in the dark just to scrawl out the word “TRUMPET.” As if I could forget. I also loved when Stefani made a ray gun with her hands and swept it across the crowd to start off “Hey Baby,” a track that opens with speedy laser noises on the album.

But one of the biggest highlights was in the very first song, when Stefani broke into “Hella Good” to address the crowd over the driving beat. With deliberate and spacious words, she pierced the cheers to say “Every – single – person – here took action. So I wanna see every –single – person – in this crowd – jumping with me!” As soon as she said it, a chill rushed over me from head to toe. When the sea of bodies started making tidal waves with their jumps, I was overcome with the thought that it was one of the coolest things I had ever seen. I still think so.”

They also posted a bunch of great photos with the review – be sure to go check them out.

Global Citizen live stream video

Sunday, September 28th, 2014

Hello! I’ve uploaded my capture of the Global Citizen festival live stream to YouTube. It does contain some things that weren’t in the TV broadcast, such as the band’s bow at the end of the show, and Gwen making an introduction. There are a few spots where it freezes due to the stream not working, or internet slowing down.

I also captured the TV broadcast, and am working on that as well. It’s currently uploading to YouTube split up by song, and then I will be adding downloads to the site.

You can also download the live stream file here.

Baby Don’t Lie, new G photos, We Can Survive show

Wednesday, September 24th, 2014

Hello! Idolator.com is reporting that Sophie Muller is the director of Gwen’s upcoming “Baby Don’t Lie” music video! From the site: “It still doesn’t feel real that Gwen Stefani and Fergie are both releasing new solo singles in the next couple of weeks. We’ve already heard a snippet of the BEP babe’s “L.A. Love (La La)” but details of the No Doubt frontwoman’s comeback track have been largely kept under wraps. In fact, all we knew was the title and expected radio release date (October 6).

More information about the project is finally starting to emerge. For example, “Baby Don’t Lie” was reportedly co-written by omnipresent hitmaker Ryan Tedder and produced by the ever-reliable/awesome Benny Blanco. To emphasize the fact that Gwen and Interscope aren’t playing with this release, Sophie Muller has been tapped to direct the video. She has a long association with the 44-year-old. They first worked together on No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak” visual way back in 1997.”

Gwen has added a new photo set to her Facebook page. She looks so gorgeous, as usual!

Gwen is playing a show on October 24th in LA! A portion of ticket sales will benefit Living Beyond Breast Cancer and Young Survival Coalition. You can enter to win tickets at Radio.com. Here is a promo image from the site:
